The Bishop John King Mussio Elementary
School Lovers Lane Campus has won the top recycling school award for the second quarter in a row. Patrick Lanaghan, executive director of the Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority, said the school collected more than 31,000 pounds of paper during the fourth quarter of 2008 and collected a $940 check Monday. The solid waste authority sponsors the recycling program in Jefferson and Belmont counties. Taking part in the check presentation Monday were, from left, Lanaghan, Sidney Decker, Jessie Zamberlan, Anthony Lelvika, Paul Carapellotti, Madelyn Yoho and Anthony Lamantia. Principal Vicky Nurczyk credited the pupils, parents and community supporters who drop off paper, plastic and metal at the school’s recycling station.
